Technical assistance

Supporting agribusinesses with aggregation, extension, access to inputs, mechanisation and climate-smart practices

The CASA Technical Assistance Facility (TAF), managed by TechnoServe, is working with 7 investor partners to identify up to 35 medium- and large-sized agribusinesses to receive inclusive technical assistance over the life of the programme. To address smallholder needs and meet company supply requirements, TechnoServe will develop inclusive business plans and, if viable, facilitate implementation of corresponding technical assistance projects, drawing from a pool of internal and third party advisory services.

Delivering outcomes in partnership

  • The TAF will work with these businesses through interventions such as aggregation models, farmer extension, access to inputs, mechanisation and climate-smart agriculture. The CASA TAF aims to benefit over 100,000 smallholders and increase their income by a total of £13 million.
  • The CASA TAF will also convene investors – from development finance institutions to private equity players – to demonstrate the commercial and development impact that strategic technical assistance can have. By doing so, the CASA TAF aims to raise investor expectations regarding the level of development impact for future investments, and increase the provision of technical assistance provided by investors to their portfolio companies.
